# Hyperion 2.5 (SDR to HDR) — New!

### Model Overview

**Hyperion 2.5** is our newest SDR-to-HDR conversion model, designed to produce richer HDR results with improved color handling, tonal separation, highlight detail, and overall clarity.

It automatically redistributes luminance and color information across highlights, midtones, and shadows while preserving fine detail, with noticeable improvements in text, small faces, and fast motion. Hyperion 2.5 also expands the available color and luminance range, including a wider nit range, providing greater flexibility for VFX compositing, color grading, and playback on modern HDR displays.

Hyperion 2.5 is particularly well suited for converting 8-bit GenAI video into professional-quality 10-bit ProRes or 16-bit EXR formats for HDR finishing and VFX pipelines. It also supports 10-bit 4K HDR source footage, allowing even 10-bit GenAI outputs to be converted to 16-bit EXR for higher-precision compositing, grading, and finishing workflows.

### Key Capabilities

* Produces brighter, more detailed HDR results with improved clarity and tonal separation.
* Expands color and luminance range for greater flexibility in VFX compositing, HDR grading, and modern HDR display workflows.
* Automatically converts SDR footage to HDR without requiring manual adjustment controls.
* Supports professional 4K HDR output in 10-bit ProRes BT.2020 PQ and 16-bit half-float EXR ACES2065-1 formats.
* Supports both 8-bit SDR and 10-bit HDR sources, with conversion to higher-precision formats for grading, mastering, compositing, and VFX finishing.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://developer.topazlabs.com/video-models/video-utilities/hyperion-2.5-sdr-to-hdr-new.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
